A new Pike and Fisher report says cable operators should have DOCSIS 3.0 deployed to 99% of homes passed by 2013. About 15 million of the 120 million homes served with cable had DOCSIS 3.0 functionality at the end of 2008, a number that should jump to 53 million homes this year, and 119 million by 2013. Relatively inexpensive deployments will help carriers cut operational costs and boost revenues, notes the group.
