dbmaven posted : Whether or not it's 'simple' is hard to determine - but, you could try to run audio from either optical or coax digital out on the DirecTV receiver into an audio 'in' port on your receiver, and see if you get sound. (I would expect that you would).

Presuming that works, you could have:
- a defective HDMI port on the DirecTV box
- a defective HDMI port on the TV
- a defective HDMI cable between the DirecTV receiver and the TV
- a bad/incompatible setting on the menus of either the TV or the DirecTV box (or both)

If you have another HDMI cable you can swap in temporarily I'd try that first.

Stupid suggestion - you've made sure that the volume on the TV is "up" high enough and not muted or too low ? (I've done it by mistake ! ;) )
