| EQ-660r and WRT610N help
Hello and I apologize if this has been covered already but I could not find the post if any. I recently had to change my 2wire modem/router to a eq-660r modem and wrt610n router. I have no issues connecting to the internet through my isp Embarq with the new setup. My problem is that with the mmorpg game EQ2, they have a voicechat function to negate having to use ventrilo/teamspeak. I am unable to connect to this at all. I have tried all tech suggestions from soe and from linksys. They suggested that I should "bridge" the eq-660r to just a modem and have the wrt610n as the router. No problem but I have no idea how. I tried the »www.ehow.com/how_2283354_brid...···dem.html but when I do that I cannot connect to the internet. Do I need to change a setting on the wrt610n to show the modem now as "bridge" ? I contacted Linksys but unfortunately they were of no help, usually they are very helpful. Please tell me what information you need, the eq-660r IP is 192.168.2.1 and the wrt610n is 192.168.1.1. I know this is something simple but for the past 2 weeks I cannot find the solution. |

1 edit | Hey, when you bridge the modem, are you clicking the "Release" button? If you don't, you may not be getting an IP.
You can use these instructions to bridge the Embarq 660 series modem:
1. Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar. 2. Type in the default password 1234 and click Login. Click Ignore if prompted to change the password. 3. Click on Diagnostic listed under the Maintenance menu. 4. Select the Network Layer option and click the Release button. 5. Click the button labeled Change to Bridge Mode.
Once the modem has completed the change, a message stating "Current operating mode is Bridge mode" will appear on the screen and you can exit the set up.
Once you have finished that, power off your DSL modem, and power off your router. Then power on your modem, and wait for the DSL light to stay lit, and then power on your router. By doing it this way, you're making sure the router pulls an IP and you should be able to get online.
Also note that when you're in "Bridge" mode, you won't get an 'Internet' light anymore, since the router will be pulling an IP instead of the modem. And if you still aren't getting online after that, leave it for about 30 minutes, then power off your router and power it back on, and you should be able to get online. You just need to leave time for the IP lease to expire so you can get a new IP |

| Okay, thats what I did not do. I did not do the Release only changed to Bridge mode. I will try this later after I clean the house...haha. Since the WRT610N is set up for Auto DHCP do I need to do anything to this other than power cycle it with the modem? |
