| FiOS Wins
With DSLX's announcement of a 50/20 rebranded FiOS tier for $100/month, Cox is already behind unless they can convince sheeple that their PowerBoost tech is worth not only a 75% lower upload speed but also a higher price, expecially once their introductory discount period ends.
Of course, in areas where FiOS/LUS fiber aren't yet Cox will get customers, since 50/5 is still faster than anything xDSL can muster. However if they're competing head-to-head with FiOS, they're already losing.
Additionally, what's with the positively gimpy upload speeds that DOCSIS 3 operators are pushing out, compared with fiber offerings? Sure, 5 Mbps is better than 2 Mbps, but when the second-lowest tier on FiOS has 5 Mbps up and the next tier up is 20 Mbps, At $55 for 20/5 and $60 for 20/20, most people will go for fiber if they know anything. Particularly when you're comparing unthrottled everything with slower transfer speeds on the stuff that actually *needs* 50 Mbps. Seriously, who needs 50 Mbps for web surfing, gaming or even video conferencing? It's all about the high volume data transfers, and I'm betting Cox isn't going to do much to make sure multi-stream HD video works well on their network.
