Re: [CATV] DCX3400 green screen issue.

maybe its an issue with the DVR but whats crazy is that all 3 had the same symptoms, i hope im not the only one this happens to so a firmware could be sent out to fix it, i really want the extra HD space as well as the cool-look of the new DCX.

I dont think it would be the video settings on the box that would cause it to show for a period of time and then not. Have you tried using the component cables to see if its doing the same thing? Also, the TV has the ability to turn the HDMI control off and on, have you tried setting that to off? Perhaps there is an issue with the tv trying to control the box over the hdmi cable that is causing the issue.

i did try components and they do work. so my guess is that its either the HDMI cables themselves or an issue with the DVR and particular setups that i have..

one thing i must say is that the HDMI's that im using are all "Belkin Pure AV" cables. so im gonna run to walmart tomorrow and try some cheap brand cables to see if that works, if not then there's definitely something up with the sony/DCX combo.

We test the boxes extensively, across different TV platforms before deploying... However it is impossible to test every tv make and model.

please specify the exact model and we will check with our vendors..

Yeah, definitely sounds like an HDMI-related issue. Sorry to hear things only worked temporarily! It would be something if the cheap cables worked. That's what I use and I don't have any issues with my Sony XBR LCD...

Keep us posted.

This is happening with our Samsung LN40b530.

Edit: I will try and locate some component cables and verify those are stable (which previous posts here and in AVSforums seem to confirm), then post results here.

Any idea when a firmware update will go out to LVH RCN customers? I did not realize just how "bleeding edge" we were when we got this DVR (4/30/09...apparently right when they became available). I would like to stop the bleeding now, thank you!

I have noticed this problem with HDMI connection on my Sony 46XBR4. It was fine for the first day. The second day things were fine. I used my PS3 (connected to a different HDMI input) and the tv was fine afterwards. The following day, I saw only a green screen on my cable box. Switching to a component input has allowed me to watch tv. Hope this info. helps.

I have reconnected the HDMI output to my Sony KDL-46XBR4 tv. I have component hooked up as a backup. My box is locked to 1080i for HD and 480i for SD. HDMI has been working fine for 2 days now. I'm not sure it had anything to do with having another device hooked up over HDMI, since those don't talk to each other. I deactivated the HDMI device control on my tv. Neither my PS3 and DCX box are controllable anyway. Maybe this is a clue. I will update this post if anything changes. So far so good. The only things different from before are the HDMI control off and component hooked up also.

what firmware does the RCN boxes have

Firmware is version 22.28 and so far so good. No green screen for many days now.

I have noticed the image occasionally going black on HDMI and when I switch to the component output I see narrow interlaced versions of the screen. It looks strange enough that I snapped a pic in case seeing it might be helpful. This is a rare occurrence and can be remedied by changing channels and/or turning the box off and on again a couple times. It does not seem to effect recordings, only the output.

I re-enabled the "Native" video output that will show 720p or 1080i to match the channel or program. Not sure if that was the issue, but I woke up to a green screen this morning on my DCX. Probably has nothing to do with the HDMI control function in my tv. My guess now is that something involving 720p output is involved. I'm perplexed.
