Re: Two year customer coming up on renewal... I thought that I had read somewhere that requesting the device would incur a $50 charge (handling, shipping, whatever you want to call it). If I'm mistaken and that's not the case, VT<somebody>please let me know and I'll request an adapter. -- NukedGallery.net TheMolavis.com |

| They have a $9.95 shipping charge no way around that. They also have a $29.95 activation charge. Did you pay this already? Maybe they won't charge it again if you did.
If you don't return the device you get a $50 charge for it. It then becomes your property.
If they are going to bill you the $29.95 plus $9.95 shipping it would only cost you a few more bucks to just order a pap2t-na form Amazon also around $50. |

1 edit | reply to dmolavi Just for grins, place the AC_211 in front of your router. Last month, found that my router was introducing WAF damaging latency, so placing in-front of the router has resolved all my issues. More recently I acquired a (NAized) SPA-2102NA which experienced the same router induced latency. I now have it in front of the router and have zero issues & WAF instantly restored. I placed my router WANIP into the ATA DMZ which makes the ATA invisible to my router allowing unfiltered internet traffic. I have great VoIP quality, no double NAT to impede p2p, all is good. I'm told that Firmware 5.2.5 required to allow SPA to manage memory properly in router mode using DMZ, all I know is it works.
btw:My AC-211 still works fine, just wanted more line#2 options offered by the SPA-2102NA. Time to sell my Innomedia as I don't need 3 ATAs.
edit: no, we paid no activation fee to VT during the weeks following SR collapse. |

| Just saying a PAP2 may not resolve your issue. Switching providers also may not resolve your issues.
Call VT and have them look at your latency reading to the AC-211 -they measure it every 10 seconds. My AC-211 had better latency readings than the SPA when behind the router. THe AC-211 had 450ms and the SPA had up to 1500ms latency. |

 | Hi,
The activation fee is only going to show up if someone is receiving equipment from us. If you signed up BYOD and have never contacted us to receive equipment, then you shouldn't ever see the 29.95 activation fee.
Also, we've worked with some other customers that also use the AC-211, and the multiple hello / incoming audio delay on pick up can sometimes be resolved by changing the adaptive jitter buffer setting in the device to half of the default (I believe the default is 100ms, but I can't remember off the top of my head). I can't guarantee this is going to be a fix for everyone that has the issue, but it's worked multiple times in the past for people with that box, and at the very least it's worth trying if this issue has been a continual annoyance.

| just for grins -put the 211 in front of your router to test the "hello" effect. Remember to reset the modem, set the rated upload limit (drl?) i forget the field but accessible through the 'welcome' ui -set to 10% above your advertised upload rate. Last do a soft reset. Takes 5 minutes & couldn't hurt. |

dmolaviPremium join:2005-04-11 Sewell, NJ | i can't put it in front of my router. my router is an Actiontec FiOS router using MOCA (co-ax). It is on it's own LAN segment behind the Actiontec though, not sharing it with any of the other PCs. The only other thing I can think of is to put it in the DMZ, but I'd rather not... -- NukedGallery.net TheMolavis.com |
