| Empty Toolbars, No Lock option and F11 Fullscreen mode.
I've been using Firefox for quite sometime, and recently because of a combination of 2 things, my eyesight and monitor size, I have heavily minimized the buttons I use in the toolbar at the top of Firefox, and find that I use the F11 toggle for full screen quite often.
Here's my beef.
(see images) #1: There is an annoying empty toolbar that cannot be removed once I move all the icons to the topmost bar, in addition while this bar is empty I cannot lock the toolbar. How would I go about removing the empty toolbar, and then subsequently locking tool bars to save further on space by removing that unnecessary horizontal line between the empty toolbar and the main bar I use?
#2: When I use the F11 toggle to go full screen I end up having to Minimize then Maximize just to get the screen to go full screen properly, I've always had this problem on all my pc's, but it really didn't start getting on my nerves until as of late. | reply to ctceo Several suggestions you may want to look at to further help you with "... I have heavily minimized the buttons I use in the toolbar ...":
Compact Classic theme along with the Classic Compact Options extension.
Stop-or-Reload Button extension -- combines the Stop and Reload buttons into a single button.
Bookmarks Menu Button Bookmarks Menu Button (BMB) adds a new bookmarks and history menu button to the toolbar. Those combine all the functionality of the normal bookmarks/history button and the bookmarks menu. In addition, you can define how to sort your bookmarks, reorder the history, open/close the bookmarks/history sidebar or restore the last closed tab (Firefox 2.0) either using the middle or the right mouse button. The BMB extension also allows you to hide the Main Menu's "Bookmarks" and "History".
There's also extensions like Tiny Menu, Menu Editor, etc. to customize Fx Menu. |

| reply to ctceo Old problem thought fixed, now a problem again.
I'm running across the same problem I had before, as illustrated in my original post, see pics 3&4.
When I open the browser after closing it, I have that annoying bar and/or the annoying leftover unhidden piece stuck at the top. It will fix itself if I minimize then maximize.
I dunno what else I should do. I already notified the author of the plug-in, and Mozilla Dev's. -- Would you like your ISP to govern how much you can use the web in a month? Well it might happen if we don't do something NOW! »www.ipetitions.com/petition/PMDBI/ |

Yes. Still have the same problem every time I exit and restart Firefox. I've just been leaving it open as a workaround.
Another workaround that I notice seems to work, though I dunno why, is moving my mouse to make my auto-hidden start menu to appear. Once it has appeared and disappeared the Title bar will follow suit.
A new bug that seems introduced with 1.6.0 is garbage at the bottom and left of the screen after the Firefox window draws to screen, maximizes and autohides the menus.
Edit to add: Auto unhiding the start menu, and then minimizing - maximizing Firefox seems to fix the garbage problem just like in 1.5.0.

| Autohide seems to work fine for me on FF 3.5 with the default theme on the settings pictured although I now do recall that an earlier version of Autohide did start to misbehave before I updated it.
Sorry, that's all I have to offer. |

| The only option I had not selected was "Full Screen for 'manually' requested windows". Lemme give that a try when I get home. See if that helps.
And Thank everyone for all the help so far. At least we have a verified claim of a bug for the developer to keep an eye on, right? -- Would you like your ISP to govern how much you can use the web in a month? Well it might happen if we don't do something NOW! »www.ipetitions.com/petition/PMDBI/ |
