The buckets are usually on hydralic lifts, run by a hydralic pump turned by the engine, which needs to be on. Often the buckets have a remote start/stop feature for the engine but it can be disabled from the cab with the flip of a switch or just taking off the parking break in most cases.
They often also have electric backup motors, but those are usually for emergency use.
At least thats in the more than dozen utility bucket trucks I've used in the last 5 years... |
