The forum name must be included with ticker items. I'm sick and tired of misleading titles that waste my time with some stupid WoW nonsense...it's particularly infuriating when on a mobile device. -- There is no giant fur-bearing trout. |

1 edit | reply to Maccawolf (1) Turn off the ticker (waste of space) (2) Go to the Hot Topics page (»/?view=2&typ=latest) when you're interested in, well, "hot" topics
It would be nice, though, if the ticker included the forum name, too (so one could judge a topic's relative "hotness" to one's interests)...

First you said to turn it off, then you say to include the forum's name.
Please make up your mind.
So which one, would you like?

1 edit | Obviously, I mean it would be nice for those who prefer to use the ticker (as in, not me**) to be able to see which forum a topic is in. That's what the "though" is meant to signify.
Reading is fun-damental.
[Edit] **I should mention, I suppose, that one significant reason I don't value the ticker and don't use it--besides the waste o' space--is because the forum is not included. There are any number of forums I wouldn't visit (in addition to WoW) because I have little or no interest in them, such as those for ISPs I'm not a customer of. |

Now, that you are now more clear.
How about the ability for an user to hide the ticker in their Preferences?
This way
#1 Any user who does not want to see the ticker, can just select hide ticker?
#2 Those who want to see the ticker, can still see the ticker?
#3 If an user changes their mind, they can change it in their Preferences? -- Please use the "yellow (IM) envelope" to contact me and please leave the URL intact. |

1 edit | User preferences already include the option to show/hide the ticker; the ticker itself has a link to the ticker preference panel (see below). You can also put it at the top or the bottom of a page, among other options.
ticker config |

Thank you, it worked perfectly..
Now to get that front page ticker, to say what forum the thread is in - as the OP (person who started this thread) wants.
Please. -- Please use the "yellow (IM) envelope" to contact me and please leave the URL intact. |
