 [DSL] AOL. SHUTS DOWN WHEN I TRY TO DOWNLOAD

HELP NEEDED PLEASE
FIRST OFF I'M A COMPUTER NOVICE
I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MYSELF A NEW TOWER UNIT AS AN UPGRADE TO MY LAST
EVERYTHING IS RUNNING FINE INSTALLED AOL BROADBAND FROM THE DISC(NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH MY OLD COMPUTER)
I HAVE THE USUAL SPEEDTOUCH ROUTER
THERE ARE 5 LIGHTS ON THE ROUTER - POWER -ETHERNET - WLAN - DSL - INTERNET
ALL EXCEPT THE WLAN ARE LIT(DONT KNOW IF THAT MEANS ANYTHING)
THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHENEVER I TRY TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING I.E SCREENSAVER - UTORRENT - AOL SAYS IT HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE IT THEN RECONNECTS ME
I AM RUNNING WINDOWS XP PROFFESSIONAL
APPRECIATE HELP BUT NEED IT IN IDIOTS TERMS
