FilmOnHDi

Anyone out there trying this? I installed it earlier this week and I must say it's quite amazing. It's still in beta and not all the channels work all the time but the quality is great.

Is this one of those pay sites? They turn out to be scams once they get your CC number your Toast. They have web cams pointed at TV sets with no rights or license to rebroadcast. Tread lightly my friend.

I was thinking that also because the linked filmon site is not very impressive. But if you go to their parent site »corp.filmon.com/index.html you see that they are a good size company that is on the London stock exchange.

I also found this in one of their linked news articles.
"FilmOn is owned by filmmaker and actor Alki David, who was ranked as the U.K.'s 47th richest person last year by London newspaper the Times. It estimated his wealth at $2.2 billion, mostly derived from his family's Athens-based Leventis-David group, which owns Coca-Cola bottling plants in 23 countries."

Looks like it is free during the beta, later they will start charging a monthly fee.

The channels did not work well for me.

I took the chance and downloaded the player. Got a few channels. Not sure if it was live TV or just taped reruns of shows that aired. Only time will tell if this is for real. To be able to interact while watching shows as they are aired would be revolutionary.
Same as you Automate the channels did not work well for me either some had a bad picture some froze.

ROFLMAO, "filmmaker" - right except he is probably barely more than a rich heir who went to art school and thinks it makes him more of a "filmmaker" than the next guy with a camcorder and an idea for shorts...

At least he has some small roles under his belt as an actor: »www.imdb.com/name/nm0202810/

I wouldn't bank on this site, he might have anoughmoney to finance it but he does not have enough clout to get real content, I think.

if you want to watch the BBC or sky sports news etc. (I do) then this works well. They are live channels I can confirm since I have a slingbox setup in the UK and can switch back and forth.

Yep it's only in beta but it certainly looks promising, full screen hi res video>

So I thought I'd give it another go -- was prompted to upgrade, did so, and this version (2.3?) is working much better. No freezing, etc.

Will keep an on on this one, thanks!

2.4beta is out now and it's looking better each time. I really appreciate being able to access the stuff from the UK. Now if only the selections from Sweden were a little nice (for the hubby )

Very good quality. BBC1, BBC2 ITV, etc. A handful of interesting channels but not that much for free. We're pretty cheap aren't we! Pic is from the oldies movie channel.

As someone else said, "worth watching".

I take back the few nice things I just said. I'm watching the oldies movie, about 5 minutes pass and then a big "subscription expired" pops up and the movie ends and I'm asked to pay.

Not worth any $ for the few channels it offers in my opinion.

But the video quality is outstanding.
