[OOL] Optimum Ultra Reviews! Post em here!

Hey guys I figured why not make a topic dedicated to those who get the Ultra either today or sometime within the next month. As most everyone knows Cablevision has now released their new service teir called Ultra. It is 101/15Mbps service. Let us know what you think of the service and so forth. Let it rip.

*Mods if this is not a good idea I am sorry.

I just got off the phone with a sales rep. There's a $300 "activation fee" on top of the required professional install fee. I think I'll be ok with Boost for now.

For those who still don't believe it's true, there definitely a $300 activation fee.

Wow, a $335 fee is one way to cut back on demand.

Well screw that definatly now. I was thinking about getting it with $300 setup fee but now they just keep tacking on more and more. They can take their Ultra and shove it.

Oh well, I was willing to pay the monthly $99.95. I was willing to go along with the $35 install fee, especially if that means I don't have to waste time going to the store. But there's no way in hell I'll pay the $300 pure profit fee...er, I mean "activation fee"

All services have a crazy upfront fee. Eventually, there will be a self install option like there is now.

How far out did they schedule the install?

Ordered it... requires truck roll.

Install is for Thursday. I have two boost modems, I'll loose one modem and keep two phone lines on a single modem and use the internet only on the new modem.

Stupid $300 Activation fee. Oh well, 101/15 here I come.

How soon are they actually going to do the install. I'm assuming the $300 fee just gets added to your monthly bill?

I finally agree with you.
Why not just charge 129.00 per month?

I will get it, but not for some months.. I will have to work some side jobs to save he $300 for the install so i dont "feel" it per say...

But its probably better that i wait..

Interesting it requires a truck roll.. why in the world would it need that? Doesnt this run on the same infrastructure, or are they dropping NEW lines to your house, perhaps higher grade cable or something to handle it?

They tend to require truck rolls when they institute new services, so it may simply be SOP. It also may be that they want to check the signal levels, since you are using additional channels and supposed to get higher performance. Hard to know for sure.

like all brand new service installs, they initially required truck roll for digital cable, boost, ov, cablecards.
they want to make sure the process is straightforward and all the potential issues are taken care of.

My guess is they just want somebody on the premises to make sure everything works.
