[FYI] My absence over the past year...

Hello friends. I've gotten and am getting a lot of PM's and emails over the past months so thought I should post this here, mods can remove it if they see it as not fit. First off, thanks to each and everyone of you who were concerned and also to all those for the warm welcome back.
One year ago this month (May 08) my life got completely turned around, upside down would be a better explanation. I've dropped in here a few times as I could since then but just for a few minutes at a time and couldn't get back into the swing of a "normal" life so to speak. Last May a very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer, she didn't live long, and if you recall I had just posted to the forums of another in September of 07, well....since May of 08 I lost 5 more, in total 5 of the finest people in my life I ever knew passed away, needless to say it changes ones habits and outlook on life to say the least and priorities change, and did! To keep it short, it was THE worst year of my life then seemed to get worse with everyday that passed. We buried the final one of the 4 this past January and probably the one I looked up to the most. So life has been everything BUT normal for me but FINALLY we're all getting past it all and the possibilities of what we remember as a normal happy life appear to be looking more promising now than they have for a long time. So anywhoo, thats where I've been for so long, I sure hope it's smoother sailing from now on, I know death is something we all have to face sooner or later but too many too close together takes a major toll on one, believe me I should and do know.
I may be a little slow at getting back into my old routine but hang with me, I'll eventually get back into shooting and posting again, it's in fact already started.

It's good to see you back, even with the bad news.

Yes, you can get over it. I lost both my parents in 14 months and it took some counseling from a therapist that I trusted to get me past it. It still hurts and that was 14 years ago.

So, hang in there, get the camera going, and get some good old "out in the field and then back among friends" type of therapy.

I had a year like that back in the 1980's - six family members and co-workers in less than a year. All I seemed to be doing was going to funerals. Luckily for me, a couple of them were not unexpected due to old age, though some were complete shocks. Still, it was an extremely depressing year, so I know sort of what you've been experiencing.

Glad there is finally some light at the end of that dark tunnel for you.

I always find that smothering myself in something I find joy in doing helps me to find those tracks again...you're here now which leads me to believe that taking those amazing photos will guide you the right way...

My sincere condolences. I'm familiar enough with what you're going through to know that there are no words that really "comfort" you.

I had no clue when we emailed awhile back. You have indeed had your hands full. Again, my condolences.

I just can't even imagine the pain you are dealing with. I have lost important people in my life, but never so many is such a short period.

I hope you can get back on track, soon. Get the camera out, start shooting, I believe that it will be good therapy for you, finding things to make photos of and composing some of those great photos you ave well known for.

I wish you the best, and I look forward to seeing more of your work soon.

I am only a newcomer to the DI forums, but I am glad to welcome anyone back.

As I'm only 22, I cannot say I've experienced the loses you have, though I've my own share of burdens. Having a parent with AIDS and RSD, each day is a new challenge for her. I've got the easy job. My sincere condolences on what you've been through. I cannot imagine it.

I echo the comments of the other posters. Get out, shoot! I've had several blah days that became immensely better by simply breaking the Rebel out and trying to find a picture to take.

To go through one such trial is incredible, but to endure many more, I am surprised you returned at all, though I am glad you did. If there is anything we can do, just ask.

What can be said?
What a terrible year, that many people in such a short time.

In 2006 I lost both parents in less than a month of each other. It takes time.

Boy, you've has one, tough year! No. No words can be said that would make and change in what you've been through, and you are still going to hear the echos of those loved ones in your mind and memories for a long time to come. In some cases, forever.

The voices from here are those who also care. When I was so sick a number of years ago, my best medicine was to come here and share what I could, in sadness aplenty, but so many people here were willing to be my partners in my getting back to life.

I am happy to see you back, look forward to your wonderful work, and should you want or need to, you can always IM me if I might help you through something. Just a real welcome back to you, my friend.
