| reply to unknvoip Re: Beta Lab - Did I miss something?
Turned out I had SimRing set to an old OnStar account and it appears that account is set to answer calls and all you get is dead air. Called OnStar and they don't care...
Changed the numbers in SimRing and all is well. It would have been nice if the call log showed which number the call went too. Save some frustration and a few support contacts. Would that qualify for cost-benefit justification? |

| reply to unknvoip ... I don't know what was changed, but now calls don't make it to VM.
Call rings and then goes quiet... Shows as answered in the call log but no VM greeting, no VM message, and no VM notification. We've gone backwards. Ooops. |

| reply to RogerD I have verified that I have Custom notifications set up and working properly. I have one format going to my work Email and another being sent to my phone as an SMS message. The two formats are different and both work properly.
Keep us posted, RogerD , and let us know how your ticket is handled. |

| reply to unknvoip Does anyone have custom notifications set and getting them? I've gone in and resubmitted mine and still getting a default format.
Submitted ticket. Let's see how long that takes... |

| reply to VTJosh Has the custom notification been dropped? A VM was left yesterday and both the SMS and eMail notification seems to have dropped back to a standard format. I checked my account and the custom format is still defined.
Sending the default message as Your VoiceMail Service is a bit presumptuous... Is that VT, CallCentric, at&t, Gizmo, or heaven forbid the office? That's why I did a custom format to identify where the message came from. |

3 edits | reply to unknvoip Well after giving this some thought I can't think of any reason why you would create a whitelist entry and not want it to override the pattern match rules.
Now I didn't check pattern match on my 2 whitelist entries. They are to simple get past DnD. Have nothing in pattern match that would effect them anyway.
What kills me is I put an entry in to block "Gallop Poll" and wouldn't you know those bastards called my later that day anonymously.
Its like they know what I did.
Ha they just tried again. That time CallerId name blocked them. Sweet.
Also I turned on annon authentication. If it wasn't for my sister I could just block them all. |

| reply to dcurrey Exactly how I believe it behaves. Now I realize I didn't ask my question in the most clear manor, so I will expand on your example.
Suppose you click off the pattern match box in the Whitelist. That same call will go to voicemail, same as if the number is not in the list at all. What point does it make to have to explicitly click the pattern match box? |

2 edits | reply to unknvoip If I understand the feature correctly.
Say you route all calls from 1912555XXXX to voicemail So in Route By Pattern Match Filters would have 1912555 going to voicemail If you place the number 19125551234 in whitelist and click on pattern match it would allow that 1 number to ring your phone. |

| reply to VTJosh I would like to second XPAMD 's request for a pattern match ability to the whitelist. I too have considered blocking all callers except those on a whitelist, but would like to add a list of NPA's without having to add every number from areas I expect calls.
I have another question as to how people would use the pattern matched Incoming call routing feature with the new Pattern match Whitelist.
I am trying to figure out if there is ever a situation where you would not want a number in your whitelist to ring through, even if it matched a pattern based rule in your call routing (DND excepted)? The DND check box makes perfect sense to me from the standpoint that the number should not be blocked by call routing, but not allowed to get through a 'nap time' (or whenever DND is set).
I would be happy to hear any scenario that I may not have thought of. |

| reply to XPAMD said by XPAMD :What I was hoping for was the ability to whitelist via patternmatch. I use a Persistant DND...whitelist allows the numbers I want to go through to pass without being sent to VM due to the DND. Such as It would be okay for a specific area code or area code+XXX to pass. Basicallly instead of blocking the calls I don't want on a case by case basis Everybody is blocked. Then I add Friend and Family and Businesses that I choose into the whitelist. 99% of the calls that I want blocked are not from my local area code. We'll look further into that to see if it is something that can be added to the existing whitelist feature.

| reply to VTJosh said by VTJosh :said by XPAMD :One problem I'm having(or I'm missing somthing) is the wildcard whitelist. I type 1AAA (a being area code), but won't take that, says it required 11 digits. Is there a specific wildcard that is not currently being listed as an example as to how to format it? The Pattern Match checkbox on the Whitelist page allows a number that is blacklisted via pattern match filters to ring through to your phone. IE: If you have 518 blacklisted (via pattern matching) you can add 15189998888 as a Whitelist entry with Pattern Match selected. Then that number will be able to ring through to your phone. You'd still need to enter an 11 digit number. Previously the Whitelist only applied to standard Custom Call Routes. - Josh Edit: It appears this is mislabeled on the Beta Lab page. I'll make sure it's corrected tomorrow to avoid further confusion. Sorry about that. What I was hoping for was the ability to whitelist via patternmatch. Thanks. |
