Funny...

Knology's laid-back attitude would be called "aggressive" by the likes of Comcast...they too will be finished deploying DOCSIS 3 in 2010...

I disagree. Just because Comcast will be done in 2010 doesn't mean squat. Comcast has a huge footprint compared to Knology.

Knology has no reason why they can't get their entire network upgraded to Docsis 3.0 by the end of this year.

Comcast is rolling Docsis 3.0 very quickly given their size. Could they go faster? Sure. But they are going at very quit pace - they are aggressive.

Knology is taking a really laid back attitude.

Comcast has a bigger footprint, but also has more customers. Knology has a smaller fooprint, but also has less customers. Though you're right, smaller companies can probably apply upgrades in a quicker fashion. Just look at OOL...they now have DOCSIS 3 available everywhere. Try that with Comcast.

If you are willing to pay them a $300 bribe to turn it on for you. This is in addition to a $35 fee to hand deliver the new DOCSIS3 Modem to you and hook it to your existent coax where you current modem is connected. I am willing to say the fee is probably justified since the visit allows the tech to test your line and verify that everything is working (something that is not possible with a self-install where they hand you the modem at a store front [or mail it to you] and you plug it in yourself). The extra $45/month (over the 30/5 Boost Tier rate) is not an issue since that pays for you getting the 101/15 tier.

Still, DOCSIS 3 is available, and 50/10 from Comcast would be $140 per month so the math works out in OOL's favor after a year.
