| reply to RobNyc Re: What CellPhone Service Do You Have?
I have Sprint! Been with them for more than 9 years. I have 4 lines (SERO) pay about 113 per month for all of them.
How can you beat 500 minutes, unlimited text messages, unlimited data, free roaming for 30 bucks per line?
Also have a blackberry curve 8330, one of the best phones i have used. |

| reply to RobNyc Been a Sprint customer since 1999. Many moons ago their fast-busy was pissing me off during Friday nights, I'd say around 2001~2002 but I could blame that on 9/11.
The price is right, and since mom is a postal worker and we do a family share plan, all three lines get a 25% discount on the bill.
Sprint is probably the only carrier that I've been able to start a phone call from the Bronx, drive all the way into Brooklyn, and the call never drops, it never even breaks up in between cell sites. |

| reply to RobNyc I've been with Sprint since 2004 with various phones - currently with Sprint's Samsung Instinct. I think I would have left Sprint already if it wasn't for my family, which we are all on a family plan (cheaper for everyone I suppose).
I looked in Verizon's Wireless plans. Based on reviews I've read, and comments from people I've came across - Verizon has superior service. But expensive. The phrase: "you get what you pay for" comes to mind.
I also have tMobile service-- customer since 2006 with their Sidekick devices - currently with the Tony Hawk Sidekick LX (data only plan). $29.99 data rate + $5.99 insurance charge / month isn't too shabby. At all. -- Everyone chill out -- I got this!

1 edit | reply to htin11 I have 2 Sprint SERO lines ($30) and then one phone got rain damaged. Sprint doesn't want me to upgrade phones without upgrading to a more expensive plan. Now I'm switching to at&t because they are the cheapest for 2 lines. It's unbelievable that for $30/month/line (at&t) I'm getting basic service now opposed to $30/month with SERO over 2 years ago. 550mins shared, no inet/txts versus 1000mins and free inet.
I can't justify an additional $30/month for inet access on a phone. and I can't get the phones I like because I'm required to get a data plan. So I'm stuck having to ebay two Samsung Impressions (free) so I can buy a LG Arena and a cheap phone to get what I want without paying for a data plan.
My usage is borderline between prepaid and postpaid costs. |

| Well 1 of my sprint lines is acting up, but it's the nextel network, I have had sparadic service all over the country from Los Angeles to NYC from Florida to Salt Lake City.
I Still think Sprints the best network to be on provided you are on Sprint and not Nextel -- Email/MSN: Michael at hardwaregeeks.comAIM: MikeR35292 |

| reply to RobNyc Hey I actually got a cell phone. Its that free cell phone from SafeLink.com that they always advertise on TV. I only get 60 mins a month but that gets rolled over if I don't use it each month.I can always buy extra time if I need it.It really for emergencies anyway. |

| reply to RobNyc Been with AT&T since Dec 99, before that Sprint. Service has been fine other than the rare fast busy, or all circuits are busy.
I have an unlocked SE W760I. I am on a 700 Min family plan, which is shared between me and my ex. she has a BB pearl and a SE W580 that I got her when times were good.
My work phone is from Verizon, I get 450 mins with that line |

| reply to RobNyc The wife and I each have T-Mobile To Go prepaid lines. Once you reach Gold Rewards, any airtime refill (as low as $10) keeps your line active for a full 365 days.
I spend about $50 a year on airtime, wife about $100. -- Don't pay ME back, pay it forward. |

It has 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited texting and unlimited internet usage. | reply to RobNyc Sprint and Verizon roam on each other's networks especially since VZ bought alltel, anyone who claims VZ is somehow superior has to do a bit of research. Also for CDMA Sprint has great phones and a much better selection then the crippled VZ phones. |

Verizon had major agreements with Alltel (as they do with many other carriers) so they can claim it is their network, which to the end user is their network. They have stopped roaming onto Sprint's network about 2 years ago (but I am unsure of the strategy behind that) but Sprint does roam onto Verizon's network. With the purchase of Alltel, they now own the network infrastructure they previously had to lease. simple isn't it? |

In some plans VZ charges for roaming on Sprint if roaming is not covered in the plan. If you are in an area where there is CDMA your Sprint or VZ phone will work, it is just that Sprint no longer charges for roaming, though some capability in the phone is required, however most have it.
We write a lot of software for wireless devices and have contracts with both companies. We are a government agency and under the current fiscal pinch review such things with scrutiny. -- This is not the greatest post in the world, no, this is just a tribute!
