2 edits | Comcast of Toms River, NJ system now Docsis 2.0
Yesterday I received an automated phone call from Comcast informing me that there would be an outage from anytime after midnight to 6am for internet and CDV. The reason given was to increase speeds at no additional cost. This morning when I checked my modem info page I noticed that the we are now Docsis 2.0.
The only bad side of this upgrade is that my signal levels are on the poor side now, yesterday before the work was done I was at a solid 36dB on my downstream, now I am hovering at 34dB. Also my upstream went from 44dB up to 51.
Downstream Freq/Power: 561.000 MHz 1 dBmV Signal to Noise Ratio: 34 dB Modulation: QAM256
Upstream Freq/Power: 34.200 MHz 51 dBmV Channel Type: DOCSIS 2.0 (ATDMA) Symbol Rate: 5120 kSym/sec Modulation: QAM16
I am in the Comcast of Toms River, NJ system out of the Manahawkin head end. Also of note, for those who have CDV using an Arris TM502G modem, my firmware reverted back to the old version.
Mod Note: Let's keep the DOCSIS 2.0 discussion here ---> »[Speed] Higher upload PowerBoost? 64QAM? DOCSIS 2.0?
I will post a link to this topic in the first post of that thread (stickied at the top of the forum). ~sorto' -- My Blog on blogspot.com |

What town are you in and do you know what head end you are working off of? Also, can you post your modem type and signal levels? -- My Blog on blogspot.com |

4 edits | reply to ripcurl134 Well I spoke to several Comcast Techs over the past week, as well as the project manager at the corporate office in Philly, and basically at this point Toms River and Vineland are the last two towns to be switched over to Docis 3.0. Both towns are listed as To Be Determined, but that it will definately be finished by the end of June 2009.
The Motorola SB6120 modems will be the modem for rental. This modem is backwards compatible with Docis 2.0, 1.1, and 1.0 systems. Its what I own and currently am using. |
