Yep I checked them out. For what i want it for, and to eschew Apple for a change, I decided to pull the trigger on the Archos 5 120GB from Newegg ($249 free ship). Hell its worth a shot. Plenty of complainers on forums but plenty of happy folks too. I'm not too hard to please and if I get a couple years of solid use I'll be very satisfied. Basically just for music, video, light web. Given that the video end will be as important as any other, I chose this device and its significant storage over a 16GB flash-based iPod touch. Guess we'll see how it goes. |
Web browsing seems excellent (for a PMP) to me, although I haven't done too much. I do believe this thing will be a wonderful traveling companion.
