| Anyone notice a new firmware for 2wire 2700?
I just noticed I have new firmware for my 2wire 2700, and now have MAC filtering and WPA2. Anyone else notice this? On Thursday my computer gave me a message that a new hardware device was detected (the 2700) but didn't think much about it.
Previously I read that the 2wire firmware updates are from the ISP, but since I am with Teksavvy, I have a hard time believing this. Just curious if anyone else saw the update as well. |

I can't use the 'Check for Updates' link in the modem's front page. |

| Ah, that's definitively newer.
No, mine still has the SBC logo on.
Just tried getting the Updates list via the modem, but finally got this error message (from 2Wire's site):
quote: Error
2Wire is experiencing technical difficulties at this time. This event has been logged and our support staff has been notified. Please try again later.
Definitively interested in an updated firmware now. |

| reply to Gwai Lo Dan any change in line stats? my parents are still using one since it's the only modem that will get them 3meg fast path. might upgrade them when i'm living there next month but my only fear would be losing the 3meg stable that they have. my dad already complains about his slow internet... |

| reply to Gwai Lo Dan Yep I got it.
Thanks for the tip!
I was drawing a blank with it saying I had the latest firmware 4.25.19. So I enabled remote management in Firewall-Advanced setting which I had previously unchecked, saved the settings and rebooted.
I then went and clicked the update check and it informed me I already had the latest firmware 5.29.109.5.
I can't confirm anything I did had any effect or whether it was going to happen automagically anyway.
I then went back and turned off remote management, went to wireless settings and checked and there was the option of WPA2-PSK which definitely was not available previously.

| reply to Gwai Lo Dan said by Gwai Lo Dan :Previously I read that the 2wire firmware updates are from the ISP, but since I am with Teksavvy Sbc and AT&T are the same ISP att rarley updates the modem software....the version you have now is what the early 2701HG-B has One reason why this happened is you still have the default att activation key code

My keycode is 522P-22P4-6262-22AT-F2NV Which according to »www.2wire.com/index.php?p=268 is the AT&T regular PPPoE key

| reply to wayjac Thanks. I was thinking of posting under the 2wire forum, where I see you offer lots of advice, but thought I would post here since others with Teksavvy use the modem. You are right that I am using the default AT&T code - I never changed it when I bought the modem. |

16 dB attenuation, wow.
Couldn't get the new firmware even after playing with the Remote Update as mentioned by Vomio, bummer. |

If you don't care for the automatic software updates you can change the activation key code to one of the key codes not associated with any isp |

| reply to Gwai Lo Dan Mine is downloading new firmware as I write this. noticed it was flashing like crazy (high download activity) even though I'm not doing anything. couldn't get into Management mode, couldn't get any web pages out of the router. Finally a page came up saying "router is upgrading".

| reply to Gwai Lo Dan I still have the old firmware: 4.25.19
My unit has the same keycode [522P-22P4-6262-22AT-F2NV] mentioned earlier.
Are there any other settings which must be enabled, other than 'Remote Management', to ensure an update? |

| What the hell? I didn't know firmware updates download automatically by default.
After my 2700 updated, I initially got a "Detected Router Behind Router" error message page when I tried to online. When I went to the management console, I noticed the new AT&T logo and was even more puzzled.
Anyone know how I can disable this automatic update? I'd like to decide for myself whether or not I would want it installed. |

Alas, mine didn't upgrade with or without that. |

I have tried with checked, & unchecked on various security settings to no avail; still no updates. It just keeps telling me I have the latest update.
The router still performs well anyway, regardless of the firmware iteration, so I'll just accept what I have. |
