How to block a port on a 2wire 2701HG-B Gateway?

Hi, I'm interested in blocking 29910 because my friend told me that's how some servers in this game i play can get attacked by packets and junk.

He told me he used Comodo, but I currently have Windows Live OneCare which does a great job at allowing stuff in, but doesn't let me block certain ports (or at least I haven't found out how).

I thought maybe if I went to »www.gateway.2wire.net it would let me block ports, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that either.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry there is a bit of a typo, the link should be »gateway.2wire.net

If you're not using dmzplus mode for the computer that port may be blocked already
check the event log for "local session" messages

I know for sure it is blocking it, because if it wasn't the server would work.
I did go to that link, and 29910 isn't listed anywhere...

fyi - i need to block 29910 UDP Protocol

I don't think I fully understand this statement. You need a port blocked in order to "run the server"? Servers accept connections from clients, and in order to do that they need ports open, not closed. Oh, that is, unless you are trying to play a game with an invalid registration key that is being automatically checked with EA.

What you seem to be wanting to do is block outbound requests to port 29910. The 2wire firewall does not currently support blocking outbound requests for specific ports. It does have some limited, 'service oriented' packet filtering, but it won't do what you seem to want.

Comodo is a software firewall that runs on the computer itself, somewhat like ZoneAlarm and the like. Comodo does allow you to block specific outbound requests.

~-~-~-~-~-PROBLEM SOLVED-~-~-~-~-~

I purchased Kaspirsky Internet Security and blocked it and now everything works!

It wasn't for an EA game, but for Microsoft's Halo Custom Edition. I have the correct key because I have a bought version of halo combat evolved, but a lot of people who play re-use codes, but to allow for more people to play on your server my friend told me to block that port. If its wrong, i will stop doing it, just thats what he told me so idk.

Thnx though

Why Not Comodo?
Frankly, comodo sucks. Yes its free, but wow that is a terrible program. Also comodo offers less features and takes up more cpu and ram. Plus right now Kaspirsky is selling for super cheap, and it doesn't interfere with Windows Live OneCare firewall like i have running (while comodo not only interferes, but tries to convince me to uninstall the best PC Suite program EVER!)

I cannot confirm what you have been told, but there seems nothing wrong with controlling what is sent accross your network.

Wholeheartedly agree, but then again, I am not a Windoze user so I tend to think alot of Windoze apps suck. Give me Iptables or pf anyday.
