CNAM & Directory

Why don't you see how OV displays your outgoing CNAM on your (non-essential) line that you have with OV. Also see if it is listed in directory.

Then you can know how they treat these 2 issues, base your future decisions on it, and report to us!

My OV line shows proper outbound CNAM. However, it does not seem that the company guarantees this 100%. Also, the number was originally ported from Verizon.

This number was never published in the directory when it was a Verizon number, because it was not our main #. Now with Optimum Voice it remains the same: not published in directory. So this does not really provide data either way.

Regarding directory listings, the various Yellow Pages books are not nearly as important as they used to be. This has changed rapidly in recent months as people continue to abandon printed phone books and move online.

In my area, the two big books are Verizon Superpages (really now an independent company Idearc), and Yellow Book.

I think that either of these companies will be happy to do a Yellow Pages ad as long as you pay them. It's not clear if OptimumVoice customers would get any free single-line listing or not in these books.
