How to tell if somebody is stealing my internet

How can I tell if somebody is stealing my internet through my wireless? I have a Linksys WRT54G2 router and have to use a password to connect. I don't think anybody can connect but I know there are people in the area that try to get free internet through wireless connections. I just want to make sure it's not mine.

Re: How to tell if somebody is stealing my internet

If you are using WPA security, and your passphrase is 20 characters or more (and not a common, easy to guess phrase), you should be safe.

If you are using WEP, then better switch to WPA, and WEP has been broken.

Using WPA2. Is there a way to tell if somebody else is connecting?

There is probably information in the linksys configuration interface. But not being familiar with that router, I can't tell you where to look.

Do you see a big truck with "YOUR NSA AT WORK"? on it outside? Otherwise, no one is connecting...

WPA2 with a radius server on the network being hosted off a linux box. With AES only.

Pretty sure the NSA isnt getting on even.

Hell AES only wpa with a strong password is plenty to keep the nsa out 99.9999% of the time.

But its that 0.0001% you have to stay and worry nights about...

You could also try AirSnare to monitor your network...

With a properly secured network you really should have no worries however as noted by the others.

If you're running something like tomato or dd-wrt, you should be able to tell simply by whether there are any unknown devices in the "devices" tab (which actually reports the DHCP clients table as well as actual wireless clients as reported by the network driver).

Other than that, you could also tell by checking whether there has been any mysterious traffic in the 24-hour plot.

With WPA2 and a strong password, NO ONE is connecting.

Or in logs. My Linksys WAP11 doesn't have DHCP table feature. Only logs.
