I have my PS3 connected to the router with a ethernet cable and it has its own IP seperate from the computer... ?

 your router gets a public IP from shaw your router then gives you private IP's as far as the world is concerned your still connecting from the public IP. a switch or hub do not do this... they pass through the public IP's to your devices.

AnonShawUser would that really make a difference, i thought the filtering was on a per modem basis not a per IP.
