| [Upgrades] Charter Local Office Promotion
I currently have according to the lady at my local Charter office 16meg even though I was told I have 20 meg a few months ago when I upgraded to the faster speed.
I currently pay $67.99 a month for HSI only and I have about 2 more months at that price then it goes to $80+
She told me today when I went to pick up my bill that they will give me the same speed for $57.99 saving me $10 a month for 2 years. The catch is I have to sign a 2 year agreement.
She said if I cancel within the first month there is a $75 penalty. After that she said there is a $2 a month fee for every month you have left after you sign your 2 year agreement if you cancel after the first month.
She said Charter will waive the fees if you move to an area not covered by Charter.
This is the first time I have heard our local office do something like this. Is this normal and does this sound correct?
I know about a year ago AT&T laid fiber lines all throughout our neighborhood and city. I don't know when AT&T is going to start up their services in my area though. Is this a move by Charter to lock up their customers in preparation for AT&T offering tv/internet services? |

| They've been offering this for a while. I have the Price Guarantee on our internet plan since I don't plan on moving or cancelling it for at least the next two years. It's a good deal if you plan to keep it for another 2 years anyway.

| Thanks for the link. I see the $29.99 two year agreement for HSI only. Is the $29.99 for the lowest speed package?
Example: $29.99 - 5 meg - 2 year agreement (From Charters website) $? - 10 meg - 2 year agreement $57.99 - 16/20 meg - 2 year agreement (Was offered this at local office)
Obviously I can do the $29.99 package since this is what it says:
Your Package term will begin on the date you first receive High-Speed Internet under this offer (the Start Date). If you are already receiving Charter High-Speed® Internet, the Start Date will be the date you completed your Package Service Agreement. If you were not previously a Charter High-Speed® Internet customer, the Start Date will be the date of installation of such service. On the Start Date, you will begin receiving the guaranteed discount price noted for this service. |
