Re: Unskippable Advertisements??

Are they kidding with this?

If the remote-DVR service includes "unskippable advertisements", I will have no use for such a service. I use the FF button my remote way too often to give it up now.

I'll stick with the current DVR devices available, thanks anyway.
Unskippable ads would be a deal killer for me. If that was part of a remote DVR service, I would never use it. And if this new service would be used as a way to end their regular DVR STBs, then the Tivo route would be the only way to go.

How quickly we forget. When TiVo was first released, the system offered an automatic commercial skipping feature. When the copyright owners threatened to sue the company demanding that TiVo management remove the feature. The management at TiVo had the backbone of a jellyfish. Rather than standing up for the consumer, they downloaded new firmware to all TiVo systems that removed the feature without the permission of the customer.

Once network DVR's are the standard offering, the copyright weasels can quickly sue to force TiVo management to reconfigure their system to prevent their customer from skipping commercials under any other condition.
