| reply to wa5sox1 No transponder change, here. Throughout all the IA6 problems, and whatever Sat change (Galaxy 25?) I've had two freq changes, but none recently. SS still at 48-50. Sigh. No rain fade. Just :/quit/: I'm used to it , but it really gets tiresome when you need to send large files to the clients. (mumble, grumble, gripe) -- HN7000S/PRO Plan/93W - 1039/.74m dish/1 watt |

| reply to wa5sox1 I'm rolled-back as of last night, too! Gotta change my sig again I guess!!!! First time this has happened in the 3 yrs I've been w/DW-then-HN; they must have been experiencing big-time problems with the firmware, but it's been "OK as usual" for me here...

I haven't noticed any problems. What kinds of problems were/are y'all having with the newest software? |

1 edit | reply to tobicat Several of my members at DatastormUsers are reporting the fallback to 5.6.1.35 (for HN7000S) or 5.6.1.19 (for DW7000).
My modem was on overnight, but the dish was not pointed at my assigned satellite. I repointed a short while ago, and the download began 4 minutes after lock and completed in about 2 minutes. -- W2K Server|Toshiba Satellite XP Pro|iDirect 3100 on Datastorm 1.2 meter XF3 with 4-watt BUC|HughesNet G28/1070/7000s Pro on 2-watt Datastorm G74|Sprint Air Card|1990 Blue Bird Wanderlodge Bus "Blue Thunder"|Author of PC-OPI and DSSatTool |

Perhaps too many people having problems with the new update..heck if I know..but system thus far is performing MUCH better with the old firmware. ____________________________________________________

| reply to wa5sox1 Newbie here so please be patient. I too have experienced very slow connection speeds and speed tests. I am baffled by what is going on here when I pay so much for service. Having said this I have a HN7000s modem and have been with tech support several times to no avail. They have told me I have an open Port and it may be a virus causing this. So I will address that. The bottom line here is that we are not getting what we pay for for whatever reason. It could be that they are "throttling" or any other number of things. I don't think it is my equipment and if it is they should support getting that straight also.
I have a technical background but not familiar with all the terminology. So, if it is not a bother could people that post here and are in the know give more concise instructions and explanations to us newbies. We promise we are paying attention and will contribute when we can.
Thanks Kevin |

| reply to wa5sox1 We got the new firmware night before last. Can't tell any difference in operation. It does seem that our signal strength has gone to hell today (57 vs. normal near 70) but I don't know that this has anything to do with the new firmware, nor do I care until/unless it affects speed or connect-ability.
I can say with confidence that the HN7000S modem upgrade I did this year (over the DW6000) has been a huge improvement with respect to operation in bad weather conditions. I used to lose signal if it rained at all but now it takes a thundercloud overhead to knock us out. -- HN7000S v5.6.1.35 Home Plan, G13/H1@127W, 1110MHz 33Msps, SigTyp 72, 10-20clients & 6+OSes |
