Re: Just Glad They increased speed by 50%

You said he was able to get 13000, and now you're saying your neighbourhood is being throttled? I can appreciate you're frustrated, but does that really sound logical?

How did he connect to the internet? I'm guessing he connected directly to the modem. How do you connect - through a router?

I'd suggest checking all of your settings, including (especially) your NICs and any other network settings, especially if you are going through a router.

So you've had this problem for a while now. Have you asked Shaw to drop you down to regular high-speed internet so you're at least not paying for speeds you're not seeing? Once you are getting the normal speeds for a regular high-speed connection you can ask them to put you back to Extreme.

He got 13000 a few times then left for another call saying he knew very little about computers.A throttle doesnt sound logical but neither does a consistent and fast upload with a slower download. What possibly could cause that?

We both connect threw the modem , I alway make sure my first computer is connected via a network cable to the modem for testing

I've checked all settings and I get these results through the modem.

The day the service was first installed the installer said he had seen the same problem in 3 or 4 other homes in my neighbourhood.
I had high but then got a temporary upgrade to extreme hoping it would speed things up, but only the upload speed was noticably higher.

So now I need a wifi spot in sault ste marie I can check my laptop on to see if there is some strange problem.
