1 edit | *.gateway.2wire.net ?? I am using a 2700HG-B modem and all my LAN machines acquire the name .gateway.2wire.net
How do I set this to be .local or some manageable name?
I looked around at »192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J06 for a "modem hostname" but found nothing. |

 | Yeah, I guess I am finding out this is a pretty stupid modem-router. If I say something smart like:
ping AirTunes.local
PING AirTunes.local.2wire.net (208.69.36.132)
it resolves to OpenDNS even though there is no such localnet device connected. Any ideas how to solve this problem? |

 | OK, ok. It's a stupid modem. I admit it. |

 | Your 2wire gateway has a built in DNS forwarder and will assign all devices a gateway.2wire.net DNS search suffix through DHCP. If your devices hostname is Airtunes it should resolve to Airtunes.gateway.2wire.net on your local network. If you access the 2wire gateways interface what is the hostname listed for the device ? |
