When all is said and done here, the only thing that will actually have happened is that some cost-shifting will have taken place. That is, the card companies will likely make the same amount of money, with the only thing different being the particular consumers the money is extracted from.
What's even better is that a lot of the people who work for the Feds end up going into the private sector, working for the same firms that their former bosses are (ostensibly) supposed to be regulating. Which can have a dramatic effect on the outcome of lobbying efforts to say the least.
But hey...it's all honest and aboveboard!  -- We could use the £5,000 to buy a spoon. And then fill up with ice cream. | |
