IDSL Service After T1

I live in a semi-rural Northern California area over 15,000 ft from the telco and have Covad T1 service, which WAS paid for previously by my former employers. Unfortunately, I can't pay the $369 mos and need residential service of some kind (dsl, cable are not avail to me). Prior to the T1, I had ISDN (slow) and Satellite (hated it). Covad may be able to offer IDSL 144 for $119 mos (2 yr contract, rolling over the T1 $500 service end fee and covering the equip/install). I have even considered the Verizon MiFi wireless router, but it has a monthly usage cap.

If I go for IDSL, what kind of performance could I expect? Any other input is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: IDSL Service After T1

Have you tried '»Millenicom' ?

Not knowing how much data you consume in a month, but some have had pretty good luck with them.

Re: IDSL Service After T1

IDSL will be slightly faster then your previous ISDN. IDSL requires its own "Line", and combines the D channel for a total speed of 144/144, instead of 128/128 of ISDN. I used IDSL service from Qwest for two years. My brother and I could game/surf at the same time with no issue, however, downloading would saturate the line. If IDSL is available, I would go for it, its stable, and usually considered a business class service, so there service commitment will be more likened to your previous T1.
