| Can't keep my hose straight! Is there Viagra in the cards for my garden hose please? |
Ok it is not what you think......get your minds out of the gutter and into the driveway
I bought this supposedly "heavy duty" hose at Costco 3 years ago and all it does is kink up when the water is on. Very annoying when washing the car etc. Anyone have a particular brand/grade of hose that is not as susceptible to this?

Appears to be improperly stored. Do you keep it on a roll or is it hung up on a hook? I would bet on the latter...

1 edit | reply to NY Tel Am a little surprised that it is kinking like that under full water pressure . I have had the best luck with hoses rated for industrial hot water use , but they will be very heavy compared to a normal hose . Couple of hints that might help . Use a hose reel if possible . Use a good quality brass quick connect at each end of the hose . This will help to keep the hose from getting twisted in use . Whoops keep forgetting to check before posting ! Ignore hint 1 |

| I know, I could understand kinking while the water is off but under full pressure I am getting ready to cut it up in little pieces just to make me feel good and put it out with the trash this Thursday. Ok going out to was the car now. Kink and all.... |

| All you need to do to keep it from kinking is to untwist it. From the looks of the picture, there is a twist in it. Take the hose and stretch it out and follow the ribs to make sure there are no twists. Once you do that, all should be well again.
When you use it, it can also get twisted as you walk around and turn so watch when you roll it back up. Leave the far end stretched out and roll it back into the reel. This will tend to allow the twists that develop while you are using it to untwist. -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

I see them at Sears, perhaps I will make that my next purchase. Thanks |

| reply to NY Tel Rubber or vinyl it doesn't matter that much ... what you need is a reinforced hose. They are a little more expensive but, at least now you know why. -- Good judgement comes with experience...Experience comes after bad judgements |

robbinPremium,MVM join:2000-09-21 Leander, TX kudos:1 | I would disagree with that. I have had reinforced hoses before. They did not hold up at all. The black rubber Sears Craftsman hoses are the best I have ever seen. I have over 1000 feet of them with some being 20 years old and still going strong. I am sure that there are other rubber hoses, but the Craftsman with a lifetime warranty at a reasonable price is the way to go. |

1 edit | Here is what you can get at Loews for 27.98 (50 feet). I'd need 3 reels of it. How does that compare to the Craftsman price and specifications? |
|
robbinPremium,MVM join:2000-09-21 Leander, TX kudos:1 | Looks like Sears currently has their 50' all rubber on sale for $10 off -- you pay $19.99. Always watch for the sales at Sears and DO NOT buy the rubber/vinyl hose -- you want the ALL rubber as in the link you posted and in the one I am posting.

I'm going to hit Sears tomorrow. Thanks |

| reply to NY Tel I picked up 4 Swan Soft & Supple hoses at an employee sale at my former employer (a hardware store distributor/co-op) and have been very impressed with them. I've had them maybe 3 years now and they still work as good as new, even with me taking less then ideal care of it (mainly leaving it out in the elements over winter, but drained. They don't look quite as new, and my dog managed to chew through a portion of one, I don't have any problems with kinks, being non-flexible, or deterioration due to sunlight like I have had with past hoses. |

Oh MAN is that Costco hose a piece of kinking crap! It's called "forever" or something, with much ado on the label as to its quality, but it's been kinking up since I got it. No, it hasn't exactly leaked yet, but I almost wish it did. And forget about coiling it properly. It kinks like a prechewed Crazy Straw. Piece of crap.

I have tried to find it again, but have not. |

Was washing the car today with the water on under full pressure and as I am walking around the car, it is shutting off constantly with the kinks. And yes as you roll it up it kinks. Guess it was one of those products you get a Costco that look nice but just isn't up to standard. |
