Bait and Switch

anon posted : Sure CenturyTel advertises a high bit rate; and you can get it - at least to THEIR server. My DSLReports.com speeds hover near 1.5 - 2.0 Mbps even though my service is 8 Mbps. Finally they had me test to THEIR server speedtest.gulftel.com and it shows a rate of nearly 6.6 Mbps. The service rep's claim is "well DSLReports server is farther away than ours so of course you will get a lower bandwidth". I say BS!!! Typical party line. They offer a 20 Mbps service for an extra $10 / month - should I trust them? IDTS!
