I just wanted to let Centurytel dsl customers know, the new combo works great.I used the setup disc and it checked my dsl, found it was ppoe and setup the right vpi and vci. Range is better than the Westell and 2wire combos I have used.It isn't dual N like some stand alone routers but for a router/modem combo it is real nice.I paid under $80 with a discount code from Staples.I refuse to pay a monthly lease fee to C-tel.One nice thing is the unit has a push to connect button,so you don't need to leave it on at all times. I know this is not an in depth review,I just wanted to let people know there were options. |

| I have to agree. I've had this modem/router combo since late 2008, I have not been without an internet connection ONE SINGLE TIME since the day I put it in. I'm the last dsl customer on the east end of my area and I've been told I shouldn't even HAVE internet based on how far I am from the central office. I had LOTS of problems with the 6100 and 327 Westell units, would constantly lose signal in ANY type of rainstorms or damp weather. I then tried the Actiontec and then a Zoom modem/router combo, which were only slightly better than the Westells. I had almost given up hope when the Netgear came along. I think I paid $119 for it but it has been worth the money.
So yes, I HIGHLY recommend the Netgear DGN2000 modem! |
