There is no filter on the land line phone. But The land line just plugs straight into the phone jack in the wall and there is nothing else that plugs in there. So is a filter and a splitter the same thing and is it needed there, cause it would not be splitting anything?
If so should I just get another one of the splitters provided by century tel and plug it into the wall jack for the back phone?
And would I just put the splitter in and then the phone into the phone part of the splitter and then just leave it like that?

Anything that plugs into a phone jack needs a filter (phones, fax, satellite box receiver, house alarm system). So yes, your hard wired phone definitely needs a filter plugged into the jack before the phone.
