ProFiOSDude posted : Most alarm issues are attributed to one of the following:

1) Alarm panel is not in series with the other phone jacks.
2) Alarm is calibrated to copper voltage (52VDC). FiOS is 48VDC.

I am betting on the former, since you first noticed something wrong when dial tone moved from cable to copper. Most alarms need to take control of the phone line and that cannot be done unless it is in series with the rest of the wiring.

There are posts that should still be here discussing how to check wiring, and also about other alarm systems and how they interact.

The biggest possible hurdle is if your alarm provider thinks your service is VoIP.
Brinks and FIOS

supernova00 posted : I had FIOS installed two weeks ago and just got around to testing my alarm system...the test did not go through. Brinks said it was verizon's fault, verizon said Brinks needs to install a signal booster.

When the alarm was installed I had comcast and then switched to DSL through verizon. Soon after was daylight savings time and the time on the panel never switched. I didn't think anything of it and was to lazy to figure out if I needed to change it or not but it appears a signal should have been sent to automatically change the time. So it appears even if my alarm did go off, Brinks would have never have known about it for a few months now.

So I'm wondering if this problem stems from when DSL was installed or from when I got FIOS and what I need to do to fix the problem.

Brinks said it would be $99/hour for a tech to come out. Is there anything I can try before getting Brinks to come out?
