Re: Higher number of calls going to fast busy signal?

My family has been using the phone and haven't had any complaints since I last posted. I assume the problem has been resolved.

I then explained the issue of the 'fast busys' and he made some adjustments to timing parameters. I will report back here if that seems to help.
It has been five days since the timing parm changes made by the rep and not one call has ended in a fast busy. I am hopeful that this may have been my resolution.

I am thinking this may be an issue with VT servers not get 11 digits.

My ata always sends 11 digits except with speed dial (the only place I have hit this issue)

Pap2 shows
Call 1 State: Invalid
Call 1 Tone: Ring Back (or reorder)

Whats really odd is this only seems to happen to speed dial *04. Tried several times today. Granted the line could be actually busy but I don't think invalid would show up on status page. Call doesn't make it to VT cp.

Went to speed dial *01 and it worked went back to speed dial *04 and it worked.

Seems this started shortly after outbound routing could be related.

Other possiblity is the back end database is being overloaded dealing with the outbound call routing rules and timing out.

Since changing my dail plan, as shown on pg 1 of this thread, I've not had 7 digit dialing issues. This plan inserts 1919 to the start of any 7 digit dialing -therefore my ATA dials 11 digits instead of 7.

7 digits may have been a temporary issue, as no longer having this issue on Line 2 which allows 7 digit dialing.

Not sure yet if the problems are totally fixed - haven't used the home phone much the last couple days - I'll let you know later today or tomorrow as it should be getting using heavily from this point forward.

Did those changes seem to make a difference for you or are you still experiencing the same number of unsuccessful calls?
I called tech support a couple of days ago, they did the same, adjust some stuff but still did not fix the issue ...

I was having problems with fast busy signals and called a couple days ago - they did the same thing, switch a few parameters/etc. I am a provisioned customer and have to say the Viatalk quality has gone down hill over the past couple months. Things were working great for a while, then all of a sudden something changes somewhere that their system cannot resolve without a call to customer support.

Come on Viatalk, please resolve the reliability problems with your system!

I cannot get through any calls at all now.
Okay, one caller ahead of me, the rep was excellent, and the problem was that for some reason both my channels were showing as open even though no one was on the phone.

The rep explained that something prevented the termination packets when the calls ended from reaching their system and therefore the channels remained open, resulting in no more outbound calls.

edit: This is the first time this has happened to me in 3 years of being a customer and my adapter is still in the DMZ, meaning it wasn't my firewall that stopped these packets.

He cleared those and phone service returned.

I then explained the issue of the 'fast busys' and he made some adjustments to timing parameters. I will report back here if that seems to help.

Slow busy this time for every call I make, including VT support.

In the last two weeks, 90% of the calls I make are going to fast busy. Nothing on my end has changed since it was last working properly. I dial 7 digits usually. I have the Linksys PAP2 provisioned by Viatalk, DLink dir-655, sbc dls modem.
I have to agree with your current stats. This is getting worse for me this week and especially today.

I know... I know. I need to call support and open a ticket, then spend valuable time going through the first 10 bullet points of the script saying, "I did that already. I did that already."

Anyone else experiencing a higher incidence of outgoing calls failing with a fast busy?

Starting this past weekend I have been experiencing both this problem and a couple of inbound calls going to the fail-over number.

Longtime customer on rock-solid Verizon FiOS 20/5 with my own router (NOT the Verizon ActionTec) ... nothing has changed at my end and prior to this I have had about 6 months of good service.

This morning I had no voicemail for a time.

I've been on since last August, and mostly satisfied. However, I'm getting tired of them breaking my service and then giving me the same damn canned support response and going through the same hoops before they will fix what they broke.

As the Bard once said "A pox upon thee" guy who posted the "Fair Weather Report" a few days ago!

Just kidding...

Do the calls always complete if you hit #?
At first they seemed to be completing with it but just yesterday I had a few, even when using the pound sign, that failed with the fast busy.

If not in the dial plan the ata shouldn't be able to dial international call anyway. You have strings for both allow and disallow. First match wins.
Ah, okay. I had copied that dialplan from someone more in the know a few years ago.

I just don't know what to make about these busy signals. Getting more this morning. At this point even slow dialing results in the first two attempts going to fast busy.

I have had 3 fast busy signals today. Tech switched me to hightower last night because I could not call another VT number that was on the hightower server toaster.

Prior to that, all was good.
