Use CapDVHS and cap a minute TS segment. Scan that TS with Mpeg2Repair (Log only...no repair output) and paste the Log file here.

If it has a 25mbps header on the HD channels they are compressing it.

-Derek-
--
CHECK YOUR FSLC TAXES!!!

Service Electric vs. Service Electric Cablevision

cypherstream posted : OT thread moved from RCN forum. »EAS During Idol FINALE

said by alanisrox69:

They mux their own.

The guys over there just have no idea what they're doing. They have plenty of bandwidth to squish the FakeHD channels 3 to a QAM, but instead they squash the good channels.

I spoke with an Engineer once and he played with the bitrates the one night for me, but still didn't know how to swap channels to a different QAM. lol.

The next time I called and asked for Engineering, I got a "we don't have an engineering department" from the SecTV operator LOL.

I've given up on SecTV, they don't even have VOD yet. They claim they do, but I think like maybe 100 houses gets it. haha.

-Derek-

Wow. The other division of Service Electric »www.secv.com/ is much better than the one up your way. 860 MHz, good quality pictures, VOD, etc... Their downfalls are 1)No HD-VOD, 2)Motorola equipment, and 3)PTD.net's horrible monthly caps.

Strange they use Moto gear, because PTD.net (their partner) is owned by Penncor, which operates Blue Ridge Cable, and they run Passport on SA/Cisco equipment. BRC has HD-VOD and about 60 HD Channels. I would of thought that relationship with Penncor would of assisted SECV from getting good rates on bulk SA gear. I guess not.

From what I heard, the Walson's who started SECV had a family dispute and broke the company up (one brother took it in a different direction than the other). So you end up with the one division down my way which serves Birdsboro, Hazelton, and Sunbury/Bloomsburg. Then you end up with the LHV division which even goes into parts of NJ.
