 | Driver Detective dissappointing Was having trouble tracking down the right driver for one of my laptops, looked forever and nothing worked, so I though I'd try Driver Detective.
My laptop is Vista 64 Bit. Driver Detective's database is way out of synch with current drivers/64 bit Vista drivers. Was very disappointing. I emailed them about it. And to add to my disappointment, I've heard nothing back.
While it isn't a ton of money I do expect programs to work as advertised. Pointing me to out dated drivers and non-64 bit drivers is clearly not what Driver Detective sells itself as what it is "suppose" to do. |

IvanPremium join:2001-11-15 Internet | I have DriverMax (XP Pro) and not too impressed with that either, even though it's free.
It has 'found' numerous updated drivers for my Fujitsu notebook, but after downloading & installing 2 of them, the old drivers are still installed. (Did a reboot and looked in system/Hardware/Device Manager - the old drivers are still installed.)
Appearantly the install was wrong or the drivers are not compatibly with my notebook. Sure glad I didn't pay $30 for that. -- AMD: When you care enough to purchase the best. |

 | reply to jsmiddleton4 I'll give it a few days and then hit my credit card company. Clearly the software advertises itself to be one way, in practice it is different. That is false advertising. Driver Detective does not say, "We maybe up to date and you may find our product helps you with your driver issues...." It makes itself known to be THE product to be current and to be helpful because it is current.
None of that is true.
And ouch, it did cost me 29.99. |

Finally, today I got some registry removal procedures from Uniblue. |

| reply to jsmiddleton4 FWIW; I have tried Driver Detective, Driver Max, and BIOS AgentPlus.
I find that all of them tend to offer drivers that will not work on my systems.
BIOS AgentPlus sucks you in in an attempt to upgrade your BIOS and you later find out that your BIOS is already up-to-date. Then you are out your $29.95 for the year of questionable driver updates.
Live and learn!!
