Frankly, after how awesome CoD4 was, I was offended that they went straight back to world war 2 in the next game, and it basically revealed just how tired I was of that era as a setting for video games. Not that I didn't have fun with WW2-based games, but now I think it's safe to say that I'd had my fill, and am more than ready to move on.

That was not my intent, I agree about the WW2 thing. CoD4 was great and despite my effort I just flat out don't like WaW. I think Infinity Ward did a smart thing by dropping the CoD title. Now Treyarch can't mess up their titles anymore. It's just a shame that the original developer can't lay stake to the title.

I do have a problem with a developer using another's work and making the game worse than the original. Treyarch just put out a lousy interpretation of the COD franchise (graphically it was great, but how do you not fix the spawns when Infinity Ward already showed you the way?). Too many gameplay issues, lacks realism even on hardcore modes and talk about a crappy online experience. We struggle all night to get the entire party in a game of TDM. Guess they should have left the party system to Bungie.
I can't wait until MW2 launches. Hopefully we'll get an improved Rainbow Six in the meantime. |
