[Speed] Rumor: 100 Meg tier soon?

According to this, they may launch a 100 meg service soon.

It would be nice if they made 22 meg 50 and change 50 to 100. But that will not happen my luck.

Maybe in five years or so, but first we just have to get everyone on Docsis 3.0 with D3 modems That itself should help alleviate network congestion, thus opening the door to higher speeds.

The "inquirer" is often more a rumor mill than a news source, and certainly NOT a broadband god.

Um..isn't the 50/10 tier already like $140? First they need to lower the price...

Large swaths of the country (read: areas with little comptition or aging cable systems) are still stuck at 6MB. Wish I could get more....

The article stated 50/20 service. Since when did the extreme tier provide 10 Mb more on the upstream side?
* never mind. I guess MN is the only people that are getting this.

Strange, You would think that Philly would get the special treatment seeing as Comcast is based there.

So I just upgraded to 50/10 Wide Deluxe business class. On the order form they sent me to sign it already had a line for the 100mbps service. When I asked about it they said that it is coming soon. After the 3.0 rollout is complete and they can be sure that the network can handle it. So it will be much sooner than 5 years..I bet within the next year you will see those speeds being offered.

Yep. Comcast (and lots of other ISPs) is and has been screwing us all over with prices, speeds, reliability.

The extremely overpriced 'Extreme 50' tier needs to be lowered along with all of the other tiers. If anything, the new 100Mbps tier should be the one that costs as much as the Extreme 50 tier. But even then, we are still getting screwed.

Early adopters of CD Burner technology paid the price. Its just like every new technology. I am sure the pioneers willing to pay, will help it get things cheaper for the rest of us, soon enough.

IMHO they seem to be working in the right direction. By 2011, I bet people will be whining about wanting something better than 100/20.
