What is the specific Geovision software that you are running? A quick Google search brings up software that requires ports 80, 4550, 5550, and 6550 all to be open.
# 80 HTTP Port For the Webserver
# 4550 Command Port For the commands that are sent between the interface and the GeoVision system
# 5550 Data Port For the Video Stream
# 6550 Audio Port For the Audio Stream
Another tutorial mentions ports 80, 4550, and 5550. I couldn't find a tutorial that said simply forward port 3550. I have never used Geovision software so I'm not sure if there are other versions that require only a single port.
The 2wire port forwarding features are solid and proven, so more than likely this is a case of not having the correct configuration. Your description of the procedure you used to forward the ports sounds correct. The tools you are using to check if a port is open will only report it as open if it receives some sort of response. If they make a request to a port that does not have a server listening then the request will get dropped just as it would if it were firewalled, so they aren't the best way to troubleshoot a port forward.
The easies way to see if it is a matter of not having all of the correct ports forwarded is to configure the 2wire to place this computer into DMZPlus and then reboot the computer. Check it then.
