Interesting you should post that. Searching the Release Notes for "security" I found this paragraph which certainly seems to add some security: quote: Blacklist Jar FeatureSupport for blacklisting signed jar files has been added to 6u14. A blacklist is a list of signed jars that contain serious security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by untrusted applets or applications. A system-wide blacklist will be distributed with each JRE release. Java Plugin and Web Start will consult this blacklist and refuse to load any class or resource contained in a jar file that's on the blacklist. By default, blacklist checking is enabled. The deployment.security.blacklist.check deployment configuration property can be used to toggle this behavior.
IOW this doesn't have any security bug fixes but it has some enhanced security features, including the distribution of a list of known-bad jars. That makes it worth deploying to me. --

 | reply to Dustyn said by Dustyn:Yes but it also contains a slew of bug fixes and performance enhancements: Bug fixes are listed in the following table. . . . Those seem to be almost exclusively pertaining to developer tools and code, or for those using a lot of Java applicability in a workspace or the workplace. Not much there that need concern the average end user, it appears to me. |
