Cable line 100 feet too far from my house? - Deland, Florida

I had the cable guy come to my house and he says my house is 400 feet from their cable line and that bright house only services houses that are 300 feet from the cable line. He said maybe they'll run a hard line directly to the house but that I would have to pay for it and that the cable company would call me about it.

I called bright house and they said they didn't know what the cable guy was talking about but that they would put a request through anyway.

I was wondering if there was anything I could do or if this problem happens a lot. It seems silly to think that my house is only 100 feet away from a cable modem vs other customers who are miles and miles away.

Check with the City cable franchise administrator to ask how far they have to provide service to. (Quite a few cable franchises list 500 feet from existing cable system for buildout requirements.)

What the cable provider needs to do is install a line extension, to take care of the distance problem (build out the cable system 300 feet towards your house) and use RG6 /11 for the drop cable.
