So it being a POS hard is not true.
The mac mini is a joke for it's price $600 - $800 with only 1gb of ram and a small HD? |

I just went through "fixing" my Mini 9 after it was broken by 10.5.7 and my netbook runs the same 'native' hardware that the previous gen MacBook did. It wasn't a major problem, but certainly not anything like a true "macintosh experience". Hackint0sh is great to mess around with, but they are far from reliable in the long term and that is a bad thing when the seller is doomed to bankruptcy before even opening its doors. Reliable upgrade to faster and more efficient Snow Leopard due out this year? Forget it.
The Macs are more expensive myth has been done to death here a zillion times and proven to be wrong a zillion times. If you don't think the Mini is a good value, don't buy one. Comparing platforms based solely on hardware isn't accurate, just as comparing processors based on GHz isn't. OS X isn't Vista, you don't need 4GB of RAM and a Core i7 for it to get out of its own way. OS X Leopard runs WAY faster on my Atom than XP SP3 did and Vista would make it cry like a school girl. Meanwhile direct competitors to the Mini like the Studio Hybrid are more expensive just like competitor's all-in-one machines are more expensive than iMacs. The near-silent Micro-PC platform carries a small premium no matter what OS it runs. -- POKE 65495,1 |
