AstraWeb - Block Account - 180 gigs - $25 U.S.

For those that buy usenet block accounts, AstraWeb has a new option of 180 gigs for $25. Non expiring, 50 connections, SSL, ect.

Great Deal. I am still using my 120GB (25GB left) that cost $25 from 2009-01-05. About to recharge with this!

great for fills if your Usenet provider uses HighWinds backend or to get a file that is older than your current retention.

Saved me from having to request reposts multiple times.

That works out to USD 0.14 per gig. Could be the best block deal out there.
Even Usenet-News's lowest is 0.20 USD/GB for a 500GB block.

Ah I regret getting a 300 GB block from usenet-news (still 255gigs left)

Why not just buy a month of unlimited for $11 and download more than 180GB in that month and cancel?

Huh? That seems like a pain in the ass... This is great for people who dont download massive amounts of news every month. Personally the 180 gigs would last me on average 3 months making it about 8 dollars a month. I dont mind paying an extra 3 dollars though its great not worrying about any limits. I used to use Astraweb block accounts for a looong time they were great.

Same here. I don't download enough to pay $11/mo and use up 180GB that going that route would end up being a deal. Closer to four months for me...

Yeah, I use alternate methods of downloading for stuff that can wait and only use nzb stuff if I want to watch right away so it can last me 4 to 6 months. This one will last even longer.

I read the last 3 statements. Ya, it does make more sense to get block accounts if you don't download a lot at a time.

I average anywhere from 10-100 gigs/month when I get downloading these days, typically. Seems this would be a great deal for anywhere in that range(I'm usually closer to around 30-40 gigs). I still use torrents when using Usenet, so not all data would be via the Usenet provider, thus this might last me 6 months or more. Might be time to give them a shot, with all the good I keep hearing about Astraweb.

Cancelled my $11/month plan. Will run it out until the end of the month as I plan to pick up this block plan.

Will be much more cost-effective for me as well.

Does this have a speed limit?

Want to know if I can max out my 30mb connection.
