Just got a ticket for "no seat belt"

Does anyone here know if this will effect my insurance rates?

Been there, done that and it didnt affect my rates. Also,if you have the time, you can probably beat it in court if you have the extra time to go see the judge.

no helmet = ok.... no seatbelt in a metal frame = ticket

www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob.

This is a great revenue generator for the state/towns. They say it's to keep us safe, but based on the number of "check points" I see, it's helping towns keep up with revenue shortfalls.

I just got a new car, and need to go get my windows tinted. I want 20%, which is illegal, but I'm wondering if the budget deficit is going to cause the cops to issue more "nuisance" tickets such as tinted windows, and if it's worth it to get them dark.

Imagine you are an officer, having pulled over someone for speeding or illegal lane changes, you walk up to a dark tinted window. You can't tell if a gun is inside that window.

Also, I think it is pretty cynical to claim that enforcing a good law is meant to generate revenue. You guys blame government for everything.

I don't like police particularly because of my own experiences with them, but I know most of them are decent hard working people who don't deserve how they get treated. Sadly, the bad apples spoil the whole bushel.

Imagine the terror of things, day in, night out, walking up to black windows, not knowing when your number is going to come up. That has to suck. I think there is good reason that Windows should not be darkened more than a certain amount. After all, driving is still a privilege, not a right.

They don't have to imagine, there is a gun in the car, usually 2 actually. But of course, they don't need to worry about people like me. Hell, they probaby know before they get out of the car that there are probably guns in the car. But I want to know how many officers have been killed because of dark windows? If that's the issue, make it a law that windows have to be rolled down if you are pulled over. I don't like the government telling me what to do, no matter how simple it is.

Define "good law".

We blame them for everything because they have their hands in everything. Can't wait to see what the 2012 "Government Motors" model line up looks like!

Well Glenn: I know all you guys here are great guys that I'd love to tip a beer with, but I just don't agree with you, except to a degree, I just don't have the same cynicism.

Sure enough, there are plenty of crooked dealings that go on in government. I just watched the movie _Once Upon a Time in America_ which was greatly based upon this reality. But even so, there isn't a conspiracy that is out to get your paycheck.

I can't really define "good law" except where a law effectively helps and protects the people.

Now I don't like the fact that the government stepped in and took controlling interest or what have you in GM, but I honestly can't see any other way without an economic devastation that would certainly send us in a depression. And so far, things are reported to be improving, which could indicate that they way things are being done isn't all that bad.

But you and the rest of the guys here will never see eye to eye with me about things like health care and the like. I can accept that, but can you accept that *I* have an opposing viewpoint, and that just as your opinion could have validity, so could mine.

God Bless.

If any of you are down in Clarksville, and I can, I'll whip up some pulled pork for ya, I have a New Braunfels Texas Smoker, the genuine article. It's a little rusty (the are supposed to get that way) but works great!

I just want to say that however you guys feel about my opinions, I sure am glad you all up there in dear old CT are around for me to argue with, it's nice to feel a connection to home. There is no place like home, Dorothy.

Got a seat belt ticket a few months ago. Two officers and two cars working the intersection. FWIW, I have a feeling the police have no joy in doing this duty.

Pleaded not guilty, and appeared in court. The prosecutor wondered why I appeared. I told him "In order to keep a clean MVR." He asked me to contribute $10 to some fund, and the charge was nolled. Was it worth the trip? I don't know. I have a theory that these little charges can potentially add up to a less than stellar driving history profile when combined with other infractions, for those subject to background checks and shopping for insurance.

20% the legal limit in CT is 35% on the front and rear sides and any amount for the rear window.
