How many free throws did they miss, I lost count. You cant do that and expect to win. They gave it away, might as well put a pretty bow on it for LA last night. -- Graphic Disorder |

1 edit | OK let me say that I like a fair and balanced game, officiating can not be perfect but a few things that got under my skin last night. All happened at the end of regulation and OT. Let me preface by saying I'm not an Orlando fan or Lakers fan.
But...
1) The shot that Fisher took to tie the game, he took 3 steps before throwing up that shot. When he received the ball on the break, he caught it with his left hand and moved it over to his right hand with a slight fumble of the ball; while taking 3 steps.
2)Kobe's elbow to Nelson jaw was too obvious.
3)Paul Gasol fast break where he dunk the ball in OT, he took 4 steps. I mean come on!!
But still Orlando lost the game by all the free throws they missed, and (IMO) Nelson should not have been in the game that late. Rayford Alston sat on the bench majority of the 4th and all of OT. WHY!!! Nelson had 2 point and 1 assist during that stretch.( he ended the game with 6 points, 3 assists.) Alston had 11 points when he was sat down. |

Count the number of steps before Fisher takes the first dribble after catching the ball from Kobe -> »www.nba.com/video/channels/playo···lay.nba/
Nelson must have just flopped on this one, no way Kobe's elbow caught him in the jaw -> »www.nba.com/video/channels/playo···ay2.nba/
The NBA changed the rules of traveling from 2 steps to 4 steps last night, just for Gasol to complete his dunk -> »www.nba.com/video/channels/top_p···otn.nba/ |

| reply to e_dub The only one that should have been called was the elbow. The others if you called it that close there'd be 30 turnovers a game on each side. |

| Yes if you called it consistently. But you can't point out specific plays if the refs interpret the rules a certain way during the season and then you want it called close to the vest for Fisher. I suppose you'd argue Fisher should be called for palming as well. |

| reply to Chillin Kobe's elbow to Nelson was blatant and should have been called, but really he should have got up and got back in the play, there was no reason for him to stay on the ground like that, like edub said he shouldn't have even been in the game at that point.
To me, the Magic just threw away that game, coaches and players. Obviously, the missed free throws and jump shots at the end of the game, but how many mistakes did Jameer Nelson make at the end of that game? I don't know if it's from not playing for so long or what but he did not make smart plays when the game was on the line.
And what were they doing on that play where Fisher tied the game up with 11 seconds left in regulation almost completely uncontested... why did they have Lewis and Howard on the inside.. on that court only Fisher, Kobe and Ariza can make three's just guard them at that point a 2 point shot is a gift and if they don't make it you don't have to worry about a rebound just foul them... it was such a poorly drawn up play.
When the Lakers took them in to overtime, I knew they had won -- Amateurs study tactics. Professionals study logistics. |

I saw that elbow bit live on tv and haven't watched it again but didn't he run into the elbow? Is everyone certain that Kobe did it on purpose? I didn't think so from what I remember live but I did notice Kobe never even looked at the guy on the ground....nobody really did so yeah, he should have got up but I have to ask did he run into Kobe's elbows as Kobe was turning or was it no doubt intentional on Kobe's part? |

For sure its not more than 2 steps, I don't have slomo but I've watch it 5 times and I can't see more than 2 steps before Fisher dribble the ball. Watch it again because I think you missed it because its not Kobe who passed the ball to Fish, its Ariza.
2. Kobe was in motion already when Jameer made his move toward Kobe. It's not like Nelson jaw was already there.
3. 4 steps you say? I would say its between 2 to 3 steps but definitely not 4. Please watch it again and do. |

Agreed. That was just a part of playing the game. Kobe DOES throw blatant elbows pretty often, but I believe that one was just an accident. |

| reply to anwgo153 This waiting so long after each game played truly suxs. I feel bad for the die-hard fans who wait all year to attend the finals in person. They fly to LA and then to Orlando but have to stay extra days in their hotel just waiting for the next game. Maye that is the game plan...get every single dollar from those there that they can. |
