Good call, I never came back to the thread? I am 3 posts up from you on the same day even.

I clearly said also on page 1, they are the better team when they are on. They were simply not on. They played horrible and barely lost 3 of the games. Only "blown out" in 2 of the 5 games.

I think there were 2 OTs, and the Magic won a game. So its not like it was a walk in the park for the Lakers. People often forget that stuff when they look back at the 4-1 talley.

They were def the team that wanted it the most though. Congrats Lakers.

You have to keep in mind that Phil does all is coaching during practices; and he's done this since Jordan.

During the games he trust his players to perform what they learn during practice. The only time you still Phil up and coaching is when his team really fucks up. I forgot which game it was during this series but he got on Odom's ass for dumbass foul he committed in the game.

To me, the Magic just threw away that game, coaches and players. Obviously, the missed free throws and jump shots at the end of the game, but how many mistakes did Jameer Nelson make at the end of that game? I don't know if it's from not playing for so long or what but he did not make smart plays when the game was on the line.

And what were they doing on that play where Fisher tied the game up with 11 seconds left in regulation almost completely uncontested... why did they have Lewis and Howard on the inside.. on that court only Fisher, Kobe and Ariza can make three's just guard them at that point a 2 point shot is a gift and if they don't make it you don't have to worry about a rebound just foul them... it was such a poorly drawn up play.

When the Lakers took them in to overtime, I knew they had won

Let me preface by saying I'm not an Orlando fan or Lakers fan.

But...

1) The shot that Fisher took to tie the game, he took 3 steps before throwing up that shot. When he received the ball on the break, he caught it with his left hand and moved it over to his right hand with a slight fumble of the ball; while taking 3 steps.

2)Kobe's elbow to Nelson jaw was too obvious.

3)Paul Gasol fast break where he dunk the ball in OT, he took 4 steps. I mean come on!!

But still Orlando lost the game by all the free throws they missed, and (IMO) Nelson should not have been in the game that late. Rayford Alston sat on the bench majority of the 4th and all of OT. WHY!!!
Nelson had 2 point and 1 assist during that stretch.( he ended the game with 6 points, 3 assists.) However, IMO Orlando only delayed the inevidable with this game. Not too many teams in NBA history have come back from being down 0-2 to take the championship [the most recent was Miami on '06].

To me, Orlando seems to be having trouble dealing with LA's defense more than their offense. The Lakers are really taking away their inside game which isn't very dynamic to begin with.

Orlando had a great inbounds with a good screen freeing a player for an alley oop and near layup. LA recovered and pressured the short shot but the shot banked off too hard and hit the front of the rim. As good a look that the shooter had, he should have made it. I believe it was Magic Courtney Lee that took the shot. Some reports say it was a layup, I say it was closer to a 4 footer, with Lee sliding through the air parallel through the lane, catching and shooting in one motion. Not an easy shot but one that a pro should make. I imagine there are plenty of youtubes with the replay.

If he can play like he did against the Cavs they are the better team. If he's in foul trouble and missing free throws then the Lakers will probably take it.

Also the Lakers need Odom and Gasol to step up. Just like Lebron and the Cavs, Kobe can't beat a whole team of this caliber for a series. One or two games maybe. Also, of course, if the Magic continues to shoot the 3's so well it will open up Howard to score a lot easier.
