pparks1 : I've had an Arris modem for the past 4 years or so without any problems. I had Motorola Surfboards previous to having my phone service. I cannot say that I have experienced any problems that I would attribute to the cable modem itself. It's been pretty darn solid for me.

daveinpoway : I have no personal opinions about Arris modems, but, just as an innocent observer, are you sure that your signal levels were good when the modems were giving you trouble? Different modems can be more or less forgiving of marginal signal levels, so another modem might perhaps work when the Arris didn't, but the proper solution is to make the signal levels not marginal.

sollord : I'm thinking of moving away from comcast and I noticed that the WOW site says they use the WebSTAR DPX2203C advanced modem for phone service is this true?

I had wow a few years ago when they first offered voice and it was the same pile of crap that comcast uses namely the Arris Touchstone series of modems.
If I'm gonna be stuck with another one of these worthless modems I'm gonna stick to comcast since I've figured out my current modems magic voodoo dance out and I'm sick of having to try a new modem every few months cause they get all stupid and stop syncing upstream for no reason.
