Re: How's your speed for June?

Looks to me like you have a classic tower loading problem. I get that from time to time but nothing like I had with Hughesnet. Afternoons and evenings were no more than dialup.

Thunderstorm this afternoon. My tower is down. Connected now to tower Jim_in_Va uses about 8 miles away. Called Sprint CS. Very pleasant experience. Answered on 2nd ring, very pleasant and friendly rep. (Jennifer). CS got required info and issued a ticket number for engineers to check tower.

Signal -89 dBM, Receive signal strength 1 db usually 12 db on my tower. What I see is not much difference in download speed but reduced upload because of distance from modem to tower.

Jim_in_VA is the man! I used the debugging info from his website to align my antenna and got the following tonight:

Was lucky to get .3 down and .03 up before.

RSSI was in the area of -97~112. Now fairly steady at -83~84.

I had my directional antenna pointed the wrong way. What a night & day difference.

I'll update my signature with my setup.

EDIT
I don't see the signature, so here is what I had/have/am getting:
Old: Wilson omni on roof (about 15' up), 20' of LMR-400, Cellmate 2000 amp, Pantech PX-500 in Linksys WRT543G3-ST router.

Current: Wilson yagi about 20' up on roof, 40' of LMR-400, Cellmate 2000, Sierra 598U in Cradlepoint MBR-1000.

Pending: Cyfre CA-819 amp and parabolic grid.

I'll create a new post with the details of what I did to get a better signal.
